(a)by Councillor Steven Purcell:-

"Council notes the publication of the Director of Public Health's biennial report, An Unequal Struggle for Health, which documents the key challenges facing public health in the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Area.

Council welcomes the report's endorsement of the Glasgow Living Wage campaign and in particular its recommendation that the NHS adopt a similar initiative.

Council endorses the principles behind the Living Wage and believes that the public sector has a crucial role to play in alleviating in-work poverty.

Council agrees that the Leader of the Council contact the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Nicola Sturgeon, to press for the introduction of a Living Wage for all NHS employees in Scotland and to write to Scottish Ministers to lobby for the introduction of a Living Wage for all directly and indirectly employed workers in the Scottish Executive and associated public sector organisations." View Papers
(b)by Councillor James Dornan:-

"Glasgow City Council congratulates all charities that have put so much effort into helping those people affected by the disastrous earthquake in Haiti. Glasgow has a well deserved reputation for being the Caring City and no organisation epitomises this better than the aptly named, Glasgow The Caring City Charity, founded by the Reverend Neil Galbraith.

The Caring City Charity has been involved in helping those affected by disasters from Malawi to Pakistan from Sri Lanka to Haiti as well as being involved in charitable work here in Glasgow, most recently through its Cross Out Poverty Campaign. Whilst we must never forget the magnificent work done by other charities based within the City of Glasgow it is time for Glasgow City Council to give its own thanks and gratitude for the work that the Caring City has done both abroad and at home and congratulate all those volunteers who do so much to make the name of Glasgow one to be proud of throughout the world." View Papers
(c)by Councillor Kieran Wild:-

"Council calls on Culture and Sport Glasgow to review the current rules in order to allow individuals who do not have a national governing body level 2 coaching certificate to access community resources (funding as well as sports facilities and equipment) in the same way as those who do have such a qualification. The purpose is to increase the breadth and number of coaches available to work with young people across the range of sports activities." View Papers
(d)by Councillor Ruth Black:-

"This Council resolves to examine the benefits of adopting the practices outlined in "The Charter for Grandchildren". Council will examine the charter and its recommendations, and where found to be practicable and in the best interests of the children and young people that we work with, will implement all, or components of, the charter in our working practices." View Papers
