10Notices of Motion
(a)by Councillor Kirsteen Mosson:-

"This Council calls upon the UK Government to do all it can to ensure that the Israeli Government dismantles the illegally constructed apartheid wall.

This Council calls upon the Israeli Government to dismantle the apartheid wall, which separates people from their families, places of work and education.

This Council believes that only peace can bring security for the people, a lasting peace based on justice and a viable Palestinian State co-existing with Israel.

This Council pledges itself to support the Open Bethlehem Initiative to encourage trade partnership investments, tourism events and to attract creative opportunities to Bethlehem in direct defiance of what the wall is trying to achieve."; and
(b)by Councillor John Mason:-

"Council affirms its commitment to being a nuclear free local authority. Therefore Council notes with concern suggestions that the UK Government might be considering the building of new nuclear power stations in Scotland. Such a move would be a huge mistake because

(i) Scotland does not need new nuclear power stations;

(ii) they are dangerous while operational;

(iii) there are huge decommissioning costs;

(iv) they are obvious targets for terrorist attacks; and

(v) the waste cannot be disposed of but can only be stored.

Therefore Council instructs the Chief Executive to immediately write to the Prime Minister expressing the city's opposition to new nuclear power stations in Scotland. We further commit ourselves to doing all in our power to oppose any such proposal."
