8Notices of motion:-
(a)by Councillor Matthew Kerr:-

"Glasgow City Council welcomes the fact that after consultation by the Department of Work and Pensions there will be official government recognition of International Workers' Memorial Day on 28th April 2010.

Glasgow City Council recognises the importance of the day, not only to remember lives lost at work, but also as an opportunity to raise awareness of health and safety at work and the key role the Trade Union movement can play in this.

Glasgow City Council resolves to investigate the possibility of the creation of a permanent memorial to fallen workers with the TUC, Glasgow Trades Council and other interested parties." View Papers
(b)by Councillor James Dornan:-

"Council notes recent events concerning the former leadership of the Council, recognises that the lack of clarity over events at a senior level risks damaging the reputation of Glasgow City Council, and that public trust can only be restored by being open and honest about what has happened.

Council resolves that in order to move forward and put these damaging events behind us, a full statement is made by the acting leader, that an independent investigation be undertaken into the practices and recent decisions of the Council, that the findings be published in full, and that lessons be learned from this process to ensure such a situation cannot arise again in the future." View Papers
(c)by Councillor Alex Dingwall:-

"Council notes the recent tragic suicides of three asylum seekers within our city and the wider concerns over the treatment of asylum seekers in Glasgow.

Council therefore agrees:

1. To support the call for a Fatal Accident Inquiry into the circumstances of these particular deaths:

2. To support the call for a parliamentary inquiry into the accommodation, support and treatment of all asylum seekers in Glasgow; and

3. To ask that the Chief Executive send a copy of this motion to the Home Secretary and to all Glasgow Members of Parliament." View Papers
(d)by Councillor Danny Alderslowe:-

"Council notes the findings of the Centre for Cities Report 2010 which highlights that Glasgow has the highest level of inequality of 63 UK cities.

Council welcomes the Petition by Govanhill Housing Association, calling on the Scottish Parliament to urge the Scottish Government to conduct an inquiry into the responsibilities of private landlords, the levels of social housing below tolerable standard, and the impact 'slum' living conditions has on the health and wellbeing of both residents and the wider community, and whether such conditions should merit housing renewal area status and additional Scottish Government funding.

Council supports the demands for Housing Renewal investment as a necessity to address health inequalities.

Council recognises the expertise of local residents groups and local housing associations in delivering the improvements to our City's neighbourhoods." View Papers
(e)by Councillor Alistair Watson:-

"This Council welcomes the continuation of the Renfrew/Yoker Ferry Service to be provided by Argyll based Silvers Marine in partnership with SPT." View Papers
(f)by Bailie David McDonald:-

Council fully supports the aims of the charter to empower people with dementia and their carers to assert their rights in every part of their daily lives; to ensure that those who provide health, social care and other services understand and respect the rights of people with dementia and their carers; and to enusre the highest quality of service provision to people with dementia and their carers." View Papers
