Glasgow 2014 will provide an enormous opportunity to improve Glasgow's economy and help to grow employment in the city, generating:

- An estimated 1,000 new jobs in Glasgow - from venue construction and management, the growth in tourism and the investment being made to the East End of the city.
More business opportunities for Glasgow companies, large and small, private and third sector
- The Games will provide the opportunity for growing Glasgow's business sector from the creation of new contract opportunities.
- The overall value of Games-related construction contracts alone are thought to be in the region of £1.2 billion. Along with major transport projects such as the M74 completion, the Games will see £2.5 billion worth of regeneration work take place in Glasgow.
- A website has been developed, the Glasgow Business Portal on which all Games-related contracts are advertised.

We are already using the Games to create employment and training opportunities for:
Major improvements to the physical look of the city
- The overall physical appearance of Glasgow is set to change dramatically in the run up to 2014, with improved access to green spaces, key developments underway across the city for the Games venues, improvements to our roads infrastructure through the completed M74 extension, phase 2 of the East End Regeneration Route and the transformation of the East End. In addition, work is planned or underway to redevelop the riverside, walk and cycle ways and improve public spaces.
