The purpose of Building Regulations is to set down minimum requirements that must be observed by anyone planning to construct, alter or change the use of a building.  The ways in which these regulations may be satisfied are set down in the Technical Standards. The Building Control & Public Safety Service is charged with the responsibility of ensuring that the requirements of the Building Regulations and the Technical Standards are met.
