European Funding
For more than two decades, the city of Glasgow has benefited greatly from access to the European Structural Funds with much of the regeneration of the city made possible by financial support from the European Union (EU).
The main objectives of the European Structural Funds are to reduce regional economic disparities and promote labour market inclusion within the EU. Currently there are two funds for which projects in the City may be eligible, namely the:
-
European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) which provides co-finance up to a maximum of 50% of eligible costs for capital and revenue projects; and
-
European Social Fund (ESF) which provides co-finance up to a maximum of 45% of eligible costs of employment and training projects.
These funds are administered by ESEP Ltd on behalf of the Scottish Government.
How can these funds be accessed? Glasgow City Council has a dedicated European Funding Team based in Development and Regeneration Services (DRS) which acts the conduit for all Council projects, providing assistance to departments with ERDF or ESF-eligible projects.
Help is also on hand to prepare and submit claims and establish monitoring systems. (For all non-Council enquiries, information can be sourced from the above website)
