City Development Activity in Glasgow 2002-03
Glasgow City Council undertakes an annual assessment of the scale and value of private sector major development activity across the City.
The assessment is based on the development value of projects either completed, under construction, granted Planning consent within the relevant analysis period, or previously granted planning consent but yet to start, across 5 development sectors:
- industry
- office and business
- retail
- hotel and leisure
- residential
Summary 2002-03
Analysis of activity values in these 5 sectors over the period April 2002-March 2003 indicates that Glasgow has maintained its attractiveness to the development industry as a whole, with projects either completed or under construction totalling £1.23billion, and longer term consented projects totalling a further £1 billion, a rise of 20% and 7% respectively over the previous year.
