Metropolitan Vision – our vision for the Glasgow City Region 2008-2013

In 2003, following the publication of the Scottish Executive’s Cities Review, Scotland’s 6 cities were tasked with the production of city region visions.  In effect, these documents provided the strategic and policy framework for the deployment of the Cities Growth Fund, a ring-fenced source of funding for (primarily) physical regeneration activity.  Glasgow’s city region vision outlined the vision for the 10 year period from 2003-2013 for the Clyde Valley Community Planning area – the same geographic area as the Glasgow and Clyde Valley Structure Plan which covers the 8 local authority areas: Glasgow, Inverclyde, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire.

The document sets out the city region’s underlying objectives, agenda for action as well as performance measurements.  In addition, the key projects and programmes which will deliver our regeneration outcomes and which have the potential to act as regional catalysts are described within the document.

The Vision document has recently been reviewed and updated to mark the mid point of its lifecycle and also take account of the many policy and structural changes which have occurred since its launch.
