Adopted City Plan : 01 August 2003

City Plan - Part 1 - Development Strategy

Introduction

As a post-industrial city, Glasgow is working hard to rebuild its economic, social and physical infrastructure.

Central to this, is the need to set a context within which development can deliver the
employment, housing and educational environment that will sustain Glasgow as a
competitive city.

The City Plan provides this context and supports the Councils key objectives. It sets both
a strategic and a local framework for current and future development projects and delivery
programmes.

It is not a shopping, or wish list, but a Plan for action that recognises the need for partnership working, in order to deliver innovative and sustainable change. At its heart, is a commitment to deliver the best possible outcomes for all of Glasgows citizens.

Production of this single Plan for the City, therefore, represents a significant step towards
achieving the Councils aspirations for Glasgow.

To this end, I would encourage everyone with an interest in securing a better future for
Glasgow to support this Plan and to explore ways in which they can contribute towards
shaping a Glasgow fit for the new millennium.

Councillor Hanzala Malik
Convener - Development and Regeneration Services Committee
