7.53 National Planning Policy Guidelines (NPPGs) 1, 2, 3, 11 and 14 promote urban renewal and regeneration, in preference to further urban expansion, while acknowledging the need to provide for open space requirements. Aim 3 of the Joint Structure Plan promotes the re-use of vacant, derelict and underused land and buildings. Action Plan 3: Objective 7, of the Glasgow Alliance Strategy, refers specifically to environmental blight caused by derelict and vacant land and sets targets for its productive use.
