Defensible Space:
Public and semi-public space that is defensible in that it is surveyed, demarcated or maintained by somebody.
Density:
Built density is normally expressed in terms of plot ratio for commercial development and number of units or habitable rooms per hectare for residential development.
Development Opportunities:
Sites and areas within the City that afford the opportunity for new development.
The sites or areas may either be vacant or contain underutilised buildings and properties.
Discount Food Store:
Food store, generally with a gross retail floorspace of 1,000-2,000 m
2, selling a limited but heavily price-discounted range of convenience products; the sector is dominated by the British concern Somerfield/Kwik Save and the Continental discounters Lidl, Aldi, Netto etc.
District Centre:
Term formerly used to denote major centres serving different districts of the City, superseded in this Plan by the term town centre.
Dwelling House:
