6.83 There is no evidence to suggest that adequate provision cannot be made for any new proposals that come forward in the foreseeable future relative to the electricity, gas, telephone and cable networks.

The City Council will assess proposals for extensions or alterations to the electricity and gas networks against the Development Policies set out in Part 2.

6.84 Many parts of Glasgow are traversed by high-voltage overhead power lines. These are generally unsightly and often detract from the development potential of sites adjacent to, or through, which they run. In some circumstances, the development process may be able to absorb the cost of undergrounding overhead lines to improve amenity and enhance site values.

The City Council will support the undergrounding of high voltage overhead power lines.
