Adopted City Plan : 01 August 2003

City Plan - Part 1 - Development Strategy - Infrastructure - Town Centres Shopping and Commercial Leisure Development

Flagship Retail And Commercial Leisure Developments

6.41 There is continuing demand for retail and leisure development outwith the City Centre, including major proposals to expand Easterhouse and Pollok town centres with new retail and commercial leisure facilities. The Glasgow Harbour proposal at Partick uses retailing as a central element in a much wider scheme designed to reinvigorate a significant stretch of the north bank of the Clyde. These developments will make a positive contribution to the regeneration of areas within, or adjacent to, SIP areas. A proposal to expand and enhance the Forge Centre at Parkhead is also compatible with the Council’s aims for retailing. The Council is keen to see these flagship proposals progressed as quickly as possible (Figure 6.9).

The City Council will facilitate Flagship Retail and Commercial Leisure Development at:

Easterhouse;

Pollok;

Glasgow Harbour (Partick Waterfront); and
The Forge (Parkhead).
