Adopted City Plan : 01 August 2003

City Plan - Part 1 - Development Strategy - Infrastructure - Water and Sewage

Ensuring Adequate Water And Sewerage Services

6.74 Scottish Water will commit investment only where proposals are certain. Developer interest alone does not provide the certainty needed for water and sewerage planning purposes. The provision of a water supply has a shorter lead-in time than the overall development process, for example, obtaining the necessary building and planning permissions, site preparation and construction period. The main problem faced by Scottish Water is dealing with surface water drainage. It is important that new developments do not prejudice water quality within watercourses. It is also important that they do not increase the risk of flooding and are not located in areas prone to flooding. Proposals dealing with these issues are set out in the preceding section on Flooding.
