5.32 The high number of jobs in Glasgow being taken up by non-residents and the high levels of unemployment in certain parts of the City gives cause for concern. The 1991 Census data reveals that 89% of Scots worked within 6 miles of home, with 66% working within 3 miles of home. It is vital, therefore, that the City safeguards and creates the opportunities for industrial/business development across Glasgow, especially in locations where unemployment is a particular concern. At Dalsetter Avenue, Drumchapel, the Council is creating a new industrial/business park within an area of consistently high unemployment. The site has already attracted developer interest and has the potential to create up to 500 jobs. In order to maximise the employment opportunities for City residents, the Council will identify and promote further industrial/business development sites accessible to areas of high unemployment.

Dalsetter Business Village
The City Council will initiate an industrial and business development programme for local areas, targeting particularly areas of high unemployment.
