5.26 Sites at Robroyston and Darnley Mains are specifically identified in the Joint Structure Plan for industrial or business users of a specialised nature (defined in NPPG 2) (Figure 5.4). The two sites at Robroyston are identified as Proven Single User High Amenity Sites. Robroyston (South) will remain in the Green Belt and be released only for a large single user industrial or business development. The site at Darnley Mains has not yet been proven. This potential single user site will be safeguarded until its suitability and availability are established. Further information is provided in the City Plan Technical Note: Jobs.

Robroyston Business Park
5.27 NPPG 2 recognises that while demand for these sites is limited, the benefits to the Scottish economy in terms of jobs, investment and spin-off activity from mobile investment opportunities are significant. It is, therefore, important that these locations are safeguarded from alternative forms of development, since they form part of the City’s portfolio of sites for potential inward investment and help ensure that Glasgow remains a competitive industrial/business location.

Figure 5.4 : Single User Sites
The City Council will safeguard the following locations for single industrial or business users:

Development of all, or part of, these sites or the development of adjacent sites which could prejudice their development potential, require to be notified to the Scottish Executive.
