Adopted City Plan : 01 August 2003

City Plan - Part 1 - Development Strategy - River

Agenda For Change - Area 8

Cambuslang Investment Park/Carmyle

Area Characteristics

The area extends east from Dalbeth to Daldowie and is bounded on its southern and eastern sides by South Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire respectively. It is characterised by various uses including industry, housing and public utilities and contains several open space and countryside areas. Cambuslang Investment Park, a strategic location well served by the motorway network, has attracted major business investment to South-East Glasgow. There is also an older industrial area at Dalbeth where bonded warehousing lies in close proximity to the River Clyde. The M74 Completion will further improve the economic attractiveness of Cambuslang Investment Park and other industrial areas and provide opportunities for environmental enhancement in the River corridor.

Towards the eastern City boundary, Daldowie Sewage Treatment Works and Daldowie Crematorium occupy riverside locations. Carmyle is the main settlement in this part of the River corridor and is the eastern extent of the Clyde Walkway in Glasgow.
