To raise quality and design standards in Glasgow, development affecting the built and natural environment should:
(i) conform to the general urban design principles outlined in policies DES 1 - DES 3; and
(ii) meet the relevant design criteria listed in the other policies and standards in this Plan.
The aim should be to produce well designed layouts, of an appropriate scale and massing of buildings and landscaping, using high quality materials suited to their surroundings. Development should enhance the image of the City and be able to last the test of time. Those that fail to meet the prescribed standards are unlikely to be approved by the Council.
