The areas designated GREEN BELT are the countryside surrounding the City’s built environment and Pollok Estate and Park. They form part of the City’s Green Network and are intended to prevent urban sprawl and coalescence and to maintain the visual amenity of the City. These areas will remain primarily in use for agriculture, forestry, leisure and recreation and other appropriate countryside uses. There is a presumption in favour of retaining the green belt.
