City Plan - Part 2 - Development Policies - Section 1 - Development Policy Principles

 

DEV 3 - Industry And Business

The areas designated ‘INDUSTRY and BUSINESS’ are the focus for industrial and business activity in the City. They will be retained primarily for uses that fall within Use Classes 4 ‘Business’, 5 ‘General Industrial’ and 6 ‘Storage or Distribution’ of the Town and Country Planning (Use Classes) (Scotland) Order 1997. The Council will support proposals that modernise the industrial or business floorspace or enhance the physical environment and infrastructure within these areas. Proposals for uses outwith Classes 4, 5 and 6 will be considered in relation to local circumstances and other policies of the Plan.

 

DARNLEY MAINS

 

This site forms an extension to the Strategic Industrial and Business Area at Darnley Mains. Developments will be subject to a master planning and phasing agreement in conjunction with the adjoining industry/business area to the north and be required to maintain the green belt setting and respect the landscape character of the site.

 

ROBROYSTON SOUTH

 

This site is identified as a Large Single User High Amenity site (see policy IB 3: Large Single User High Amenity Sites). In compliance with the approved Joint Structure Plan. The site will remain part of the Green Belt but will be released for the development of a large industrial and business single user development and for no other purpose.

 

WEST OF SCOTLAND SCIENCE PARK

 

This site forms an extension to the Strategic Industrial and Business Area at West of Scotland Science Park. Development will be subject to a master planning and phasing agreement that will: i) make adequate provision for the relocation of the equestrian centre that currently occupies the site; ii) assess whether a flood risk exists and, if so, bring forward appropriate flood prevention or mitigation proposals; and iii) maintain the green belt setting and respect the landscape character of the site.
