CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION
National Planning Policy Guidance 2: Business and Industry (NPPG2) recognises the need to identify and safeguard Large Single User High Amenity Sites. These sites require to meet demanding criteria in terms of amenity, access to the motorway network, site size and availability. The guidance recognises that demand for these sites is limited but that the benefits to the Scottish economy in terms of jobs, investment and spin-off activity from mobile investment opportunities are significant.
Within the City, the following locations have been designated as Large Single User High Amenity Sites. It is important that these locations are safeguarded from alternative forms of development, since they form part of the City’s portfolio of sites for potential inward investment and help ensure that Glasgow remains a competitive industrial and business location (see policy DEV 3: Industry and Business).
