Sustainable Glasgow

Sustainable Glasgow is a unique partnership between the public sector, higher education and industry.

It aims to make Glasgow one of Europe’s most sustainable cities within 10 years and a leader in sustainable living.

Coordinated by Glasgow City Council, this partnership has enabled development of a new understanding of the city in terms of its resources, infrastructure and pattern of energy demand.

Technically and commercially viable opportunities exist in combined heat and power, district heating; waster to energy systems; renewable energy; sustainable transport; smart energy networks; and energy management.

For Glasgow sustainability has to deliver more than environmental targets – it must also deliver economic growth and help tackle social issues such as fuel poverty.

Through a variety of tangible projects Sustainable Glasgow will:

  • Deliver jobs
  • Attract new businesses
  • Reduce carbon emissions
  • Make Glasgow a cleaner city
  • Develop communities
