Housing Strategy
Glasgow City Council has responsibility for shaping the future of housing provision within the City.
The Housing Services Division of Glasgow City Council (GCC) Development and Regeneration Services (DRS) was established in March 2003 following the transfer of the Council’s housing stock to the Glasgow Housing Association Ltd. At this point GCC’s Housing Services department also ceased to exist and a number of continuing functions transferred to other services within the Council.
The City Council, although it no longer owns housing stock, still has important duties and responsibilities to discharge across all housing sectors within the city.
The responsibilities for Glasgow's Housing Strategy, Housing Policy, Regeneration, and Grants are now located within the Housing Services Division of DRS. In addition the Council has taken on the responsibility for the management of Development Funding from the Scottish Government. As part of our responsibilities under the Housing (Scotland) Act 2001, the Council will be developing its service to provide Housing Advice and Information to the communities/citizens of Glasgow.
Housing Services Division has overall responsibility for delivering the Council’s housing strategy objectives for the city in partnership with other agencies such as Housing Associations (Registered Social Landlords) and the wider community.
There is also a range of information and advice to individuals who want to repair or improve their homes or advice on how to obtain estimates for minor repairs. The Information for Home owners page will also provide information on a wide range of housing issues for individuals.
