Fuel Poverty Warm Deal

The Scottish Government launched the Warm Deal on 1 July 1999.  Under this scheme, eligible households can receive grants for:

    • cavity wall insulation
    • loft insulation
    • hot and cold tank and pipe insulation
    • draught-proofing
    • low energy lightbulbs
    • energy advice

If you or your spouse are in receipt of certain income-related benefits, or are aged 60 or over, you may be eligible for a grant of up to £500 to have your home insulated under the Scottish Government's Warm Deal. If you are aged 60 or over and not in receipt of income-related benefits, you can get a smaller grant of up to 125.

The Home Energy Efficiency (Scheme) Scotland Regulations, effective from January 2007, also extended the Warm Deal programme to households with children with disabilities and receiving the Disability Living Allowance.

These homes can have free insulation measures, similar to those above, installed up to the value of £500. The scheme is administered by Scottish gas on behalf of the Scottish Government.
