The Remit of the Local Housing Forums

The broad remit of the forums is to deliver locally on the six main aims of the Local Housing Strategy.   The primary purpose of the Forums is to focus on the investment needs of each forum area and the issues that impact on them.

The primary remit of LHFs is:

  • To involve local communities in the process of planning and developing housing.
  • To bring together housing providers across all tenures, together with agencies having a direct interest in the provision of housing (Health, Social Work etc.), in developing a local context for Glasgow's Local Housing Strategy, with particular regard to local housing supply and demand.
  • LHFs discuss and identify local views and priorities from which individual funding bids will emerge.  Forums also have a monitoring and review role within local development funding programmes.
  • To link housing investment into the wider regeneration agenda, including programmes established locally by the CPP, Communities Scotland’s wider action programme, Local Economic Development Companies and the Glasgow Housing Association’s (GHA) wider action programme.
  • To assist in setting local targets towards achieving the city’s investment priorities.
  • The core initial task is the production of new Area Development Framework for each area, which will form one of the key building blocks of the City's next Local Housing Strategy.  The first draft of Area Development Frameworks are hoped to be in place by Spring 2007.
