Public Entertainment Licensing

 

 

The Civic Government (Scotland) Act, 1982 requires that a Public Entertainment Licence is necessary for the following activities:

  • dance halls and discotheques which do not have a liquor licence
  • amusement arcades*
  • prize bingo shops*
  • boxing, judo or karate shows
  • exhibitions
  • fairgrounds
  • circuses**
  • snooker, billiard and pool halls which do not have a liquor licence*
  • theatres
  • public shows
  • ice rinks

 *NB: Premises with amusement with prizes machines or prize bingo will also require other permits. 
**NB: Circuses with animals will require extra certification.

 

To enable you to apply for a Public Entertainment licence, the application form  below can be downloaded, completed and returned with the appropriate fee to the Licensing Section.

Guidance notes are also provided.
