About the Licensing Board
The Licensing Section also administers the City of Glasgow Licensing Board, which is an independent body of councillors. The Board is responsible for Liquor Licences and Betting and Gaming Permits and Licences.
Notification of Applications
The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 requires that the Board gives notice, for a period of 21 days, of each application for the grant of a Premises Licence. A list of applications currently advertised can be accessed using the link provided below:

Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005
Licensing Policy Statement
The Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 requires the Licensing Board to prepare and publish a Licensing Policy Statement setting out how it intends to exercise its functions under that Act. The Licensing Policy Statement was adopted by the Licensing Forum at its meeting on 22 November 2007 following a widespread consultation process involving the Local Licensing Forum, Strathclyde Police, Strathclyde Fire & Rescue, Community Councils, trade representatives and other stakeholders involved in the licensing process.
The Licensing Policy Statement will have effect for a period of three years from 30 November 2007 to 29 November 2010, unless earlier revised.

Licensing (Scotland) Act 1976
The Board deal with applications for various Liquor Licences under this Act, including Public House, Off Sales and Hotel Licences.
The Act will be replaced by the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 on 1 September 2009.

Betting and Gaming (including the Gambling Act 2005)
The Licensing Board at their meeting on 16 February 2007 approved a Policy Statement on the Gambling Act 2005, a copy of which can be downloaded by using the link provided above.

Combined Equality Scheme
In pursuance of its duties under race, disability and gender equality legislation, the Licensing Board has adopted a Combined Equality Scheme setting out how it will promote each of the three equality strands. The Scheme is subject to an annual review by the Licensing Board.
