About the Licensing Board
The City of Glasgow Licensing Board is constituted as an independent regulatory body by virtue of Section 5 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005.
The main function of the Board is to regulate premises that sell alcohol to the public. The Board's Liquor Pages provide more information on this function.
The Licensing Board is also required by the Gambling Act 2005 to regulate certain gambling activities within the City. The Board's Gambling Pages provide more information on this function.
Membership
Section 1(2) of Schedule 1 of the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 provides that membership of the Licensing Board should be formed from the current Elected Members of the Council.

Meetings and Agendas
The Licensing Board meets approximately once a month. Meetings are generally scheduled for Monday mornings at 9.30am and take place in the Burgh Court Hall, 40 John Street, Glasgow.

Licensing Policy Statements
The Licensing Board is required to provide policy statements that set out how it intends to exercise its functions in terms of both Liquor and Gambling.

Freedom of Information (FOI)
and Scheme of Publication
As the Licensing Board is an independent body, separate from the City Council, requests concerning information held by the Licensing Board should be sent directly to the Board and not via the Council’s Freedom of Information Office.

Combined Equality Scheme
In pursuance of its duties under race, disability and gender equality legislation, the Licensing Board has adopted a Combined Equality Scheme setting out how it will promote each of the three equality strands. The Scheme is subject to an annual review by the Licensing Board.
