City Markets (Glasgow) LLP has an ongoing programme of maintenance and environmental improvements.

The most recent development is the introduction of an In Vessel Composting Facility. The facility will process organic waste generated by the markets, which would otherwise have to be disposed at Landfill.

The system is suitable for composting 36 Tonnes of organic waste per week and will assist Glasgow City Council in meeting its targets for the recycling of waste.

City Markets (Glasgow) LLP is constantly investigating new methods in improving the environment in the Market as well as environmental friendly policies.  A series of other recycling initiatives are currently being researched and developed.
