The Building Control and Public Safety Service has a wide range of responsibilities that apply to almost all building and alteration works. These are concerned primarily with health, safety, and welfare of occupants and the general public, together with the conservation of fuel and power.
The Service also has other responsibilities such as houses in multiple occupation, licensing, and safety at sports grounds.
Early consultation with the Service on any of the above matters is recommended, as this can reduce possible difficulties later in the approval process.
