Houses in Multiple Occupation

The guidance on this site is designed to provide information to owners, tenants, or prospective tenants, of houses in multiple occupation (HMO), and to provide general information for neighbours and other interested bodies and individuals.

With some exceptions, that are detailed in the guidance, all houses with three or more unrelated persons sharing facilities must be licensed.

If you wish to know whether an HMO has, or requires Planning Permission to operate, then telephone 0141 287 8555
