Smoking

Smoking was banned inside enclosed public places on March 26 2006.  Making permanent outside provision for smokers will require planning permission in most instances and could also require listed building consent and advertisement consent.  The information described below provides planning guidance for the design and location of smoking shelters which will be used in the assessment of applications.  Erecting a smoking shelter without the necessary permission could result in enforcement action being taken by the council.
