Radiance Festival of Light

Radiance is Glasgow's biennial international festival of light and art.

The festival seeks to draw attention to the powerful and emotive way in which the combination of light and art can lift spirits, provoke questions and create a vibrant city.

Radiance has built a reputation of being a family event delivering spectacular set pieces such as the Human Generator in 2005 and the large scale projection to Glasgow Cathedral in 2007.

It also encourages visitors to explore less travelled areas of the city centre with artworks sited in lanes and courtyards.

In 2005 there were nearly 25 installations, by 2007 this had grown to over 45 with each festival leaving a permanent legacy of art works in the City.

Future events will seek to grow both in terms of numbers of artworks and audience and to ensure Radiance is creative, continuously inventive and visually stunning.

The information below offers a flavour of the work developed by some of the world's leading designers and lighting artists who transformed the city during the festival.
