Glasgow Urban Model is a 3D digital representation of the City Centre and River Clyde corridor. The model can be viewed online in two versions:
The project responds to the Scottish Executive vision for delivering services online which are fit for the 21st century. The primary objective of this project is to allow the public greater access to and understanding of the development of the city.
Some of the benefits to Council Services that are envisaged include the following:
- enhance the understanding of the built environment;
- assist the regeneration of the City;
- improve the participation and consultation process for future development proposals in the City;
- provide a visual aid to help explain the impact of a development to the public, elected members and developers;
- provide a versatile promotional tool to showcase development in Glasgow;
- and improve the quality of all development on the ground.
On January 22 Development and Regeneration Services launched the start of the Urban Model Licence. To find out more go to How to Licence Data.
