Start on Site

The start of site work on the Oatlands regeneration was celebrated on 7 April 2005 with a ‘sod-cutting’ ceremony attended by Councillor Charles Gordon, then Leader of Glasgow City Council (in foreground, right of photograph).

Also shown in the photograph, starting from top left, are Ian Baird (Bett Homes now Gladedale), Robin Hamilton (Link Group/Housing Association), Pat McBride (Allma Construction), and Councillor James Scanlon, Frank Sheridan and Ron Smith of Glasgow City Council. 

The ceremony took place on the grassed area which used to lie at the corner of Wolseley Street and Logan Street, just to the east of the ‘Blue Hut’, the Oatlands Community Resource Centre.
