Phasing, Funding and Acquisitions
The regeneration of Oatlands is planned to take place in nine phases as shown on the plan below. Work is well under way on both of the first two phases, including 265 private houses, 172 social-rented houses and extensive road works.
The work now being carried out includes the following advance works to fulfill the project commitment to tie in with the opening of the M74 Completion:
- The diversion of Rutherglen Road on to a more southerly alignment, including an impressive new boulevard. The first phase is complete, and the second will necessitate early demolition of the ‘Grey Square’ inter-war housing blocks.
- The remainder of the social-rented housing on the main part of the site (originally included in Phases 3 and 4 and now all complete) to rehouse the tenants displaced by the new road and other proposals.
In addition, 41 houses for the GHA have been completed at Braehead Street.
