Regeneration of Oatlands

Planning Permissions

Although outline planning permission for the whole regeneration scheme was only granted after a lengthy referral to the Scottish Executive, the Council had approved a detailed planning application for the road and street layout in anticipation of approval. This detailed permission gave the Council the power to put in place a roads stopping-up (closure) order which allows flexibility in the closure of roads as the development takes place, while preserving access to occupied property.

The first two phases, consisting of 265 houses for sale and 172 for rent, received detailed planning permission in November 2004, and construction is well under way. Now complete are another 41 houses for rental by the Glasgow Housing Association at Braehead Street, given detailed planning permission on 8 December 2006. A year later, Gladedale Homes received detailed planning permission for 32 houses on the vacant site at Caledonia Road/Silverfir Street and, more recently, the company's Phase 3 application for 150 dwellings, two shop units and relocated allotment gardens was approved.
