Distinctive Lamposts

Significant public art to the value of 1% of building cost will be provided in Oatlands, mainly through traditional sculptural pieces in Oatlands Square and Richmond Park, but it was considered important to spread the  benefits of artwork throughout the area.  Accordingly, it was decided to adopt a distinctive design of lamppost throughout the new neighbourhood, complete with a circle at the top representing the ‘O’ in Oatlands.

Gladedale has appointed the Gorbals Arts Project to work with the local community on the design of the sculptural pieces, as well as on enhancements to the proposed play area railings in Richmond Park.  A budget of around £150,000 has been set aside for the first phase, a major piece of public artwork to be centrally situated in Oatlands Square.
