Regeneration of Oatlands

Total Environmental Design

The design approach adopted for Oatlands, as specified in the Action Plan/Design Guide, is intended to comprehensively create a distinctive local character which extends well beyond the architecture and appearance of the buildings, taking in such matters as:

  • The design and materials of roads, footways and cycle paths, including street trees
  • A strong and distinctive landscape framework (270 trees already planted)
  • Public art
  • Distinctive design of street lighting columns and other street furniture
  • Adoption of theme colours for the development
  • Selection of suitable street names and the installation of nameplates and house numbers to a common ‘Oatlands’ specification
