Ladder Exchange 2008

“ Don’t let a dodgy ladder shatter your life “
The Health & Safety Executive’s “ Shattered Lives “ campaign continues with this latest initiative focusing on the use of ladders as part of the Falls From Height topic.

Falls from height continue to be the main cause of death in the workplace and one of the main causes of serious injury.

Around a third of all 'Falls from Height' accidents are as a result of a fall from a ladder.

Ladder Exchange 2008 aims to highlight the risks associated with using a dodgy ladder and provide employers with the opportunity to exchange their substandard ladder for a new one at a discounted price.

The companies participating in Ladder Exchange are:

  • HSS Hire
  • SGB Hire & Sale
  • Speedy Hire
  • Ladderstore.com

The Ladder Exchange campaign commences on Monday 1 September 2008.

Officers from Glasgow City Council Land & Environmental Services, Health & Safety Unit  will be promoting this initiative throughout September. Ladders will be checked during visits and where they are found to be in a dangerous condition action will be taken to prohibit their use.
