Glasgow Business Database
The Glasgow Business Database provides information on more than 8,150 manufacturing and service businesses, within Glasgow City boundary. Retail operations and hotels are not normally included. Approximately 5,000 active businesses are listed online. Information on businesses, which are no longer active in Glasgow, is not available on the Internet version of the database, but can be obtained on application to the key contact.
Entries are under constant review and data is refreshed weekly overnight on Tuesdays.
Entries contain:
- business names and addresses, contact details, e-mail and Internet details
- employment figures
- business descriptions
- the date of last update for each entry
where applicable:
- details of group employment figures
- additional contacts, e-mail addresses and Internet addresses
- name and nationality of parent company
- type of business activity
- type of operation
- standard specification compliances
- Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes
- export destinations
Employee levels shown within business entries relate to staff at, or based at, the listed address, both workforce and management, but not self-employed personnel or contractors. Where available, the total employment figure for the business or company is also given.
In some instances, information is available for businesses which are no longer active.
Future database developments will extend the range of information available.
All data is managed in accordance with strict quality control criteria and every effort is made to ensure accuracy and consistency in data entry. Business details are subject to change and the information available is believed to be correct at date of entry.
Glasgow City Council is dependent on individual businesses for the supply of accurate information and cannot be held responsible for any inaccuracies, omissions, or the consequences thereof.

If you wish to add details of a manufacturing or service business, based within Glasgow city boundary, which is not currently listed, or wish to amend an existing entry, please complete and e-mail the appropriate form from the selection below.
The form may be posted to the address listed.
Minor changes should be notified directly by e-mail or phone.
