Glasgow City Council today agreed the details of a Council Plan for the next four years
Glasgow City Council today agreed the details of a Council Plan for the next four years as its programme of actions to respond to the challenges and opportunities facing the city. The Council Plan details five Key Objectives which underpin how Council services will be delivered as well as listing 111 targets against which the citizens of Glasgow can measure the actual performance of the authority.
The five Key Objectives are:-
·
to provide accountable, accessible Council services that are effective and offer value for money
·
to create a cleaner, safer city and more sustainable environment
·
to promote social inclusion, tackle poverty and promote health and well being
·
to sustain the physical, social, economic, cultural and environmental regeneration of Glasgow
·
to develop Glasgow’s metropolitan role, quality of life, heritage and services
Councillor Charlie Gordon, Leader of Glasgow City Council said:-
"The City Council does not shy away from its duties and responsibilities to the citizens of Glasgow "
"We are very open about all that we do, and that is why we have no qualms about publishing such a detailed Council Plan, nor in our setting out so many ambitious targets against which to judge our performance."
He added: "One of the key components of this Plan is that the elected members will receive an annual performance report from the Chief Executive detailing how well we are progressing against the targets. Such reports, like the Plan itself, will be made available to the public."
"The Council Plan is a statement of our intentions for the next four years, and is an important document for everyone who has a stake in the continued prosperity of Glasgow. It is our vision for ensuring Glasgow remains a world-class city, a competitive and vibrant city, a sustainable city, a cultural city, but one that is true to its roots as a fair and equal city and a caring city."
Copies of the Council Plan will be printed and distributed widely, including within all of the Council’s Libraries and Lifelong Learning Centres and all public offices.
