£40m boost for sport
Three major new or improved sports facilities in Glasgow will be built over the next four years as a result of funding from the City Council, the Scottish Executive and sportscotland.

Council takes hundreds of calls on flying ants appearance in city
The switchboards of the City Council have been swamped by hundreds of callers alarmed by huge swarms of flying ants in Glasgow. Staff have been doing their best to reassure the public there is no need to worry about the ants as they will soon disappear.

Successful raid on illegal trading at Barras Market
A surprise visit to the Barras Market area last Saturday morning, 24 July 2004, by Glasgow City Council Trading Standards officers and Strathclyde Police officers from London Road Police Station reaped rewards when a considerable amount of illegal material was seized.
