A series of special events will take place at weekends in George Square this summer as part of the council's Summer in the City festival.
This weekend (Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 July) concerts of light classical music have been organised for a bandstand in the Square from 12 noon - 5pm on both days, and ticket giveaways for BBC Proms in the Park will take place throughout the event.
From Thursday 29 July - Sunday 1 August, Glaswegians and visitors have the chance to experience Luminarium in the Square – a first for the city.
Luminaria are inflatable sculptures designed by Alan Parkinson who calls his creations 'ephemeral architecture' - see www.architects-of-air.com for more information. This will be open to adults and children alike - £2.50 for adults and £1.50 concessions for 20 minutes in the Luminarium.
On Sunday 15 August, George Square will host a World Music Party, with world music performers on stage from 12noon – 4pm.
