The exhibition - Picture This - 50 years of classic Glasgow press photography - features some of the most memorable photographs from the archives of The Herald and Evening Times between 1930 - 1980. More than 30,000 visitors came to see it at the Mitchell Library over a month last autumn.
The Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times have over six million press photographs collected over the span of the 20th Century. On display will be large photographic prints depicting Glasgow and its people under the themes of Around Scotland, Celebrities, Celtic, Daily Life, Kids, Leisure, Rangers, Rebuilding Glasgow, the Scottish football team, the Shipyards, Sport, Transport and War.
The newspapers teamed up with the Mitchell Library to preserve this unique collection. In celebration of this partnership with Glasgow City Council, an exceptional selection of photographs from 1930 to 1980 was prepared for display in the Mitchell Library, and the exhibition was born.
The exhibition runs until Sunday 27 February, and opening hours vary throughout the week depending on the last event taking place at night. Please call 0141 287 2999 for more details.
