The exhibition, Picture This - 50 years of classic Glasgow press photography, features some of the most memorable photographs from the archives of The Herald and Evening Times between 1930 - 1980.
The Herald, Sunday Herald and Evening Times have over six million press photographs collected over the span of the 20th Century. The newspapers collaborated with the Mitchell Library to preserve this unique collection, based in the library since 2004.
The latest exhibition features a brand new selection of photographs covering all aspects of life in Glasgow and Scotland, from sport, showbusiness and the shipyards to Christmases past and the city’s dancehalls. More than 20,000 people are expected to have seen the exhibition by the end of its run.
Opening hours for the exhibition are Monday - Wednesday 10am - 6pm, Thursday 10am - 8pm, Friday & Saturday 10am - 5pm. Further information on the Mitchell Library is available on 0141 287 2999 or at www.glasgow.gov.uk.
