Glasgow wins again

For the second year running, Glasgow, the Council's bi-monthly publication for residents and business, has taken a top award.

Glasgow was voted Customer Magazine of the Year at the prestigious Periodical Publishers Association’s (PPA) Scottish Magazine Awards.

Carol Smillie, the TV presenter, presented the award to its Editor, John Keil, in the company of more than 400 fellow professionals at Edinburgh’s Our Dynamic Earth venue.

Designed and produced by Paisley-based Connect Communications, the periodical - which was also short-listed for Magazine of the Year - saw off competition from four others to repeat its 2006 success.

Judges praised its content that “lifts it beyond other titles from other cities”.

Mr Keil said: “Given that the judges considered the standard of entries superior to those submitted last year, it’s very gratifying to know that they regarded the magazine - as well as the Council services and initiatives it reported on  - worthy of this accolade.”

The PPA has been promoting and protecting the interests of UK magazine publishers for over 90 years. Its membership includes 354 companies that produce 2,510 magazines.
