Lord Provost's Charity Burns Supper raises £70,500

Charities benefit from generous Glaswegians

The cream of Scotland’s talent, including comedienne Karen Dunbar, television presenter Kaye Adams and musician and broadcaster Jimmie Macgregor took centre stage guaranteeing a memorable evening for the Lord Provost’s 860 guests.

One of the world’s largest Burns Suppers it raised money for the Lord Provost’s Malawi Fund, Tak Tent Cancer Support, Aberlour Child Care Trust and Calum’s Cabin.

Lord Provost Bob Winter said: "I am sure everyone will agree it was a spectacular evening and I am thrilled at the generosity of my guests. This will make a real difference to the charities we are supporting at home and abroad. Indeed it is entirely fitting that the proceeds of this evening, commemorating a renowned artist whose work was synonymous with his sense of humanity, will go to help the needy."

Last year’s Burns Supper raised more than £70,000 for the Lord Provost’s Malawi Fund and the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice.
