The three sites - at Braeside, Glenacre and Thorntree - in Castlemilk were identified as being ideal for providing more housing for the city and are within close range of ancillary facilities and main bus routes.
Seven formal offers from house builders were submitted for the sites last year, and Gladedale submitted the best offer on financial and planning criteria. The sale price will go to the Council’s capital receipts fund.
Play and greenspace provision will be encouraged, as will the provision of local shops, and it is envisaged that the developments will be composed of mostly semi-detached / detached housing, with some terraces. There will be 363 units in total.
The sites are just over 11 hectares in size, with Glenacre and Thorntree just over four acres apiece, and Braeside just over three. The sites are generally brownfield, having been occupied by demolished four-storey housing.
Councillor George Ryan, Executive Member for Development and Regeneration at Glasgow City Council, said: "The sale of this vacant land will continue the transformation of Castlemilk into an increasingly attractive part of Glasgow to live in, and provide more quality housing for the city. This represents a very good solution for these sites, and is another example of how many areas in Glasgow can benefit by taking a fresh look at how homes and facilities can regenerate communities."
