Health Week for West End pupils

Pupils, staff and parents of 16 schools and nurseries in the West End are on a health kick from Monday (2 June) to Friday (6 June) when they take part in a variety of activities and events aimed at raising awareness on the benefits of adopting a healthier lifestyle.

Although the schools within the Hillhead New Learning Community (NLC) are organising a huge range of wild and wonderful health related sessions on their own they are also working together compiling a healthy cookbook and raising money for the British Heart Foundation with a sponsored skipathon and special Olympics.

The cookbook will include recipes submitted from each school and is to be published with funding secured from the West Glasgow Community Health and Care Partnership and will be on sale to the pupil’s families and friends.

The dining hall at Hillhead High will also be transformed into a mini River Clyde as pupils pit their skills in a rowing challenge - seeing how far they can row in 2 mins!

A special health Roadshow has also been organised for Council staff on 10 June at Hillhead High School - a market place with a range of information stalls including organisations such as Breast Cancer Care, Strathclyde Police, Clean Glasgow and Culture & Sport Glasgow.

For further information and a full timetable of events please call Heather Macleod, Health Development Officer for Hillhead NLC on 07912 487 300.
