The information which you provide on this form will be processed by Glasgow City Council, which is the 'data controller' for the purposes of the Data Protection Act 1998.
What will your personal data be used for?
The personal data that you provide on this form will be used in order to deal with your comments regarding planning applications and to let you know what the outcome of the application is.
Will the Council use your personal data for any other purpose?
The Council is under an obligation to manage public funds properly. Accordingly, the information that you provide will be used to ensure all sums due to the Council are paid timeously, e.g. by identifying persons who are non-payers of Council Tax and to improve uptake of benefits. The information may also be used to prevent and detect fraud and may be shared for the same purposes with other public bodies that handle public funds.
The Council will also use the information to notify you if an appeal against the application decision is made which will allow you the option of making further comments on the appeal.
Will the Council disclose your personal data to anyone else?
Under planning legislation letters of representation about planning applications must be made available for public inspection thus your letter, including your name and address, will be made available on the internet as part of the planning documentation during the processing of the planning application. Once the application is determined, letters of representation will be removed. Copies of the letters will be including in the planning application file which can be inspected by any person at Development and Regeneration Services, 229 George Street, Glasgow G1 1QU both during the processing of the application and once the application is determined as required by planning legislation.
There are a number of exemptions within the Data Protection Act 1998 that permit disclosures to 3rd parties without the express consent of the subject of the data. Any such disclosures e.g. for crime prevention and detection, will be made in accordance with the legislation.
